Reviews on Gifted

Naseerudhin Shah, Renowned Indian Film actor and Director

These are deeply inspiring stories that teach us that being grateful for small mercies can transform them into major achievements. More than anything else, it is the attitude of the men and women in Gifted that defines what it is to be truly gifted.

Arun Shourie, Journalist, Author, Politician

Lives that raise us above ourselves. Travails that put our little difficulties in perspective. Each life, a reason for hope.

Nandita Das, Renowned Indian Film Actress and Director

Rarely have stories been written that celebrate the extraordinary lives of people who live with disability . The book is a glimpse into their world, where they live with courage, determination and a zest for life. To read their stories is to know that living in the present , with complete acceptance of who we are, is an ability that can change not just our own lives but that of those around us. A powerful, moving and inspiring read....for all.

Dr Kiran Bedi, First Woman IPS Officer, Founder, Navjyothi India Foundation

Incisive, evocative and heart-warming at the same time, Gifted is a book all of us should read, for many reasons. Each of the stories shows us the inherent strength of the human spirit when faced with the most formidable challenges. The stories in Gifted makes us introspect, count our blessings, inspire us to push our own boundaries and think of how we can give back to the society, much like the stars of this book do.

Poonam Natarajan, Chairperson, National Trust(Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India)

At last we have in the mainstream stories of people with disabilities. Their narratives, recounted in first person, are not only a source of inspiration but also bring forth the grit and determination that is required to succeed in a difficult and challenging world. The authors need to be appreciated for collating these poignant personal testimonies that makes for compulsive reading. This collection is for the disabled as well as the non-disabled and can help lower many attitudinal barriers. The people featured here are veritable role models from whose trials and triumphs we all can gain insight even as we celebrate their achievements. Normally, the success stories of people with disabilities have limited circulation within the disability sector. But this book has universal appeal.
